I wonder what book we are going to work on today!

Apart from the communicative one, this programme will develop several competences and it will encourage personal growth, positive attitudes, empathy, virtues and emotional intelligence through “Booky”.

Having been divided through the academic course into twelve Didactic Units, and taking into account that each unit will start from a story book, nobody could wonder why the programming thread is a Book called Booky (a physical and virtual guide that appeared in our class asking for the students’ help to get his pages back. To motivate the pupils’ interest in the learning process, with the view of creating and developing an engaging learning atmosphere, at the end of each unit, the students will take Booky home to add a page according to what they have learned in each case. As a result, at the end of the course, we will have a portfolio that collects everything we have learnt in the academic year.

It will be carried out in a way that the contents and skills are taught, learnt and assessed in an integrated, logical, meaningful, emotionally transversal and sequenced order. Starting from social awareness through books related to healthy food, emotions or rights. Later, we will work on self awareness, self management, and we will learn about ourselves, parts of the body, etc., with books like “ConscienteMente''. To end talking about our community with books like “Chema the Chamarin”.

Unit 1: International Music Day

Sept 17th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about instruments and their characteristics, they will understand the love and passion for music, the value to take care of people around us and that everyone is perfect for somenthing.

Unit 2: World Food Day

Oct 16th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about cultural dishes of different countries. Using food as a common thread, students will learn about typical food, flavours, to classify healthy or unhealthy food, etc.

They will also understand to care of their health and to try all kind of food.

UNIT 3: Universal Kids Day

Nov. 20th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about cultural elements of different countries, where, thanks to English as a lingua franca, we will be able to manage intercultural communicative situations by developing the two dimensions of multilingualism. Students will learn about their rights, to respect themselves and to respect others.

UNIT 4: Christmas is coming

Dec. 1st

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about Christams in different countries. Their traditions, typical food, celebrations, presents, songs and icons.

They will also learn about the importance of being together, to enjoy what they have, not to ask for more than they need.

UNIT 5: Europe Meditation Day

Jan 8th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about emotions, how to detect them in their own body, how do they work and how to manage them.

Students will also learn about their characteristics as human beings, to learn emotional vocabulary and name their emotions in each situation.

UNIT 6: I.S.D. Non Violence and Peace

Jan. 30th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about people form other countries who fought for peace, also they will learn how to live together, to know, to be and to do it in sociecty. They will also learn about natural elements and animals in the forest.

UNIT 7: I.D. Women and Girls in Science Feb. 11th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about science, about women and also men who discovered great things. They will also investigate what surrounds them and create the science corner themselves. They will also learn to respect people equally, regardless of gender, and they will understand the importance of questioning everything.

UNIT 8: World Down Syndrome Day

March 21st

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about critical thinking, respecting others regardless of appearance, and not judging. They will also learn about countries in the world, means of transportation and other curiosities.

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about respect everyone, emotions, creativity, they will understand the love and passion for books and more.

UNIT 11: International Migratory Bird Day

May 11th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about cultural and geographical elements of different countries, where, thanks to English as a lingua franca, we will be able to manage intercultural communicative situations by developing the two dimensions of multilingualism. Using birds as a common thread, students will learn about some of their characteristics, they will raise awareness about caring for the environment, the value to persist despite falling and to respect their own learning process.

UNIT 12: World Oceans Day

June 8th

Thanks to this unit, students will learn about geographical situations, sea animals, contamination and solutions, how the World works in the Universe, about the Moon, the waves and more.
